A esta acción, le llaman Occupy LA en solidaridad a Occupy Wall Street, en la cual más de 300 personas han tomado las aceras de la alcaldía angelina en demanda de reformas económicas y políticas.
California Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 131 Saturday, completing the California Dream Act, which will allow undocumented immigrant students access to apply for state-funded financial aid. Citizens organize a petition drive in the San Fernando Valley of northern Los Angeles on September 24, 2011, as part of the Sierra Club’s “Beyond Coal” campaign. Los Angeles currently gets around 40% of its electricity from two dirty coal-fired power plants in Arizona and Utah, and while the city already has a plan to move away from coal over time, the Sierra Club wants to accelerate the pace of change, so that LA is beyond coal by 2020.

Cada vez que María Tapia se comía un mango como parte de su merienda creía que su “cuerpo se llenaba de proteínas por el hecho de haber comido fruta” y se sentía “más saludable”, y contenta con ella misma, pero después de darse cuenta de que el mango que había comido no había sido cultivado recientemente porque no era parte de la fruta de temporada en Los Ángeles, quedó impresionada.
