Uno de cada 20 mexicoamericanos mayores 45 años está criando a un nieto, una proporcion 4 veces más alta que la de los blancos. “Los abuelos cuidadores de nietos son la primera línea de defensa de los niños más vulnerables de Estados Unidos”, dice una investigadora de la Universidad de Toronto. Y agrega: “muchos de los que lo hacen sufren de severos problemas de salud y pobreza”.

The San Fernando Valley (SFV) came into existence when the former governor of California Leland Stanford made a deal with Senator Charles Maclay. Stanford said he would put a railroad across the San Fernando Valley if Maclay would build a town there and by 1874, people started to come.

After serving their country for several years, veterans come back to their lives to only find themselves lost in a life with limited options. Anthony Ortega served the military for 10 years and he came back to a life of drugs and into the streets. “Living in the streets of skid row is a daily battle. It’s America’s own inside war,” Ortega said.
